What is TEKCamp?

TEKCamp 2013 is designed to develop you as a diver in every way we can.

TEKCamp 2013 is a unique event for divers that are either interested in becoming or who are already technical divers. TEKCamp 2013 is not a course and does not culminate in a certification - it is a coaching program designed to develop your diving skills and ability as far as possible in a week. Attendees are grouped together by ability to ensure a diverse range of experiences are catered for, and we work on individual needs rather than following any given curriculum.

There are a lot of myths in diving - particularly in technical diving - so we give you a chance to dive multiple configurations and routes - including rebreathers, sidemount and manifolded twinsets - opening up the potential of these various formats and configurations so that you have an informed understanding of the pros and cons.

Why should I attend TEKCamp?

Going down the technical diving route can be confusing for even the most switched on diver. Which agency is best for me? Which instructor best suits my style of diving? Is a rebreather right for me? And what equipment will I need? At TEKCamp 2013, you'll get the answer to all these questions and more. The technical instructors attending TEKCamp 2013 represent a broad range of training agencies and teaching styles - by the end of the week, you'll have learnt loads, had a lot of fun and know exactly what direction suits you!

Even if you're not looking to go down the tech route, TEKCamp 2013 offers a unique opportunity to improve your skills and increase your diving confidence under the direct guidance of some of the UK's foremost technical instructors. Buoyancy control need work? Finning technique less than efficient? Wish you could pop up a DSMB mid-water without losing control? TEKCamp 2013 will fine tune these skills and more...

What will I get out of TEKCamp 2013?

TEKCamp 2013 is a unique opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced technical instructors in the industry. Each day you and a maximum of three other TEKCamp 2013 attendees will enjoy one or two* in-water coaching sessions with a different instructor as they take you through a range of essential technical diving skills - from equipment configuration, finning techniques and pin-point buoyancy control to line laying and stage bottle management. You'll even get to experience a dive on a state of the art closed circuit rebreather!

As well as new and improved dive skills, the one thing you're sure to take away from TEKCamp 2013 is confidence! Whatever your level of experience, five solid days of coaching under the guidance of some of the UK's most experienced technical instructors will transform your diving beyond recognition. You'll be a better, more confident and safer diver!

Last but not least, TEKCamp 2013 is a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded divers who share your sense of adventure and desire to improve.

be represented?

Do I need to be a tech diver to attend?

Absolutely not! TEKCamp 2013 is designed to cater for a wide range of experience and certification levels. Whether you're a recreational diver or an instructor in your own right, we'll cater your TEKCamp experience to ensure that the coaching you receive best matches your diving aspirations and ability. Whether you're looking to become a technical diver or simply want to improve your personal diving by adopting some of the skills and procedures that technical divers use, TEKCamp is for you.

We use many of the top instructors in the field, all of which are not only extremely capable instructors, but also explorers in their own right. We use such a high level of instructor in order to progress you as far as is possible in the time given, but also to inspire. Even if you are an instructor yourself we are confident you will still learn, and improve.

In order to attend TEKCamp 2013, you will need to be qualified to Rescue Diver (or equivalent) level and you must also hold a nitrox certification. To ensure your safety and well-being, all dives at TEKCamp 2013 must be conducted on nitrox with a minimum oxygen content of 28%.

What dive equipment do I need to attend?

If you already own your own twinset or other technical diving equipment, we actively encourage you to bring it along as our instructors can provide valuable feedback and advice on how best to configure and use it. For divers who have yet to take the plunge, fully configured twinsets, stage bottles and other technical diving equipment will be available during the workshops and a full range of equipment will be available to purchase should you wish to take the plunge. Attendees will still be expected to bring along their own basic equipment - exposure suits, masks, weights and fins etc. Hire equipment is available from Vobster Quay and is essential to reserve in advance.

As you'll be under instruction, all equipment must be CE-APPROVED. In addition, we also require that your dive cylinders are IN TEST and O2 CLEAN as all training dives will be conducted on nitrox with a minimum oxygen content of 28%.

Divers that arrive for TEKCamp 2013 with primary equipment that does not meet these requirements will be asked to hire alternative equipment in order to participate further. We make no exceptions.
